"Songbird"©
by: Edwin Parra

I gaze out my window,
and behold a songbird in a weeping willow,
as my tears fall silently on my pillow.

The songbird sings: "Cry no more
for there isn't any more hurt in store."
But I have heard this ballard before.

"Why do you lie?" I ask the songbird.
But she continues to sing, as if she has not heard...
Not one of my words.

And then it dawns on me:
It is not me whom the songbird see,
but another lonely soul... Down the street.
