"New On the Inside"

My life has been a paradox. While having a love for God and man, I was intrigued by the streets at an early age. This twisted fascination caused me to drop out of school in the 10th grade. I grew up on the West Side of Chicago in a drug, gang and crime infested neighborhood, in a household plagued with alcoholism, drugs, violence, and mental illness, despite having a loving mother trying her best as a single parent. She passed in "1987," my father in "1965." Just as I got in the streets young, I tried to get out young. I moved to Atlanta in "1981" (to get away from the gangs and drugs), got married and started a family only to find out that the problem was with me.

I returned to a life of drugs and crime, until my second prison sentence in "1994" when I started earnestly studying the Bible. Thanks to God, since then I've slowly come to the realization that the street life is a dead end. But not before I received my present prison sentence. I do thank God for my wonderful family and children. And for this chance now to change. I study the Bible daily, play Chess and study Law. I like Jazz, R & B oldies and soft rock. I love to read and watch movies. I'm easy to get along with and I love kids. I'm a changed man who loves God and man and myself.

I am presently studying for my GED. Then I will enroll in the Computer class here. I am a waiter, but I think I'm going to try something computer-orientated upon my release.
