Hello my name is Samuel Jeffers and I am currently incarcerated at the Louisiana State Prison A/K/A "Angola". My purpose for placing issues relevant to my case on the Internet is to obtain some very much needed legal assistance, i.e., lawyer(s), a litigation team of experts who will be perceptive enough to view the case with a fresh, objective look in order that the constitutional issues involved could be effectively researched and presented to the courts for resolution. For the sake of simplicity, I have separated my case into four phases for clarity. But first, let me explain that I was tried & convicted in response to a single bill of information charging me with two counts of robbery to which my sentence is 199 years even though I do have a May 3rd, 2013 parole date. Phase One; The sentence, (a double enhancement) is illegal pursuant to French V. Estelle and Briggs V. Procunier and I need representation to challenge it on this basis (inter alia). Phase Two; I need legal & investigator help to pursue a Brady V. Maryland claim of suppression of exculpatory evidence which involves police misconduct perjured testimony. My pro se appeals have not received correct review. Need the use of Google search to locate material witnesses in the case. Phase Three; My family, supporters & I are in the process of using this case to show pervasive unfairness in the process where an apparent conflict of interest exists where; the indigent defenders office in Louisiana has been proven to be woefully inadequate and only get paid if their clients receives a guilty verdict and a fine. The lawyers receive too many cases with too little time and no resources. As proof, in 2004, the LA Legislature found this system inadequate and overhauled it. Now, for anyone who was arrested post 2004, an appellate project is automatically assigned to their case. However, for everyone who came through this inadequate system pre 2004, we were left high and dry. There are over 20 material lapses in my lawyers performance in my case. Phase Four; I need help with a 2010 Clemency Hearing and/or a May 3rd, 2013 Parole Hearing.
